It’s that time of year again: election season! the fall Sephora sale!
As an avid consumer of beauty content, my feed runneth over with beauty recommendation videos. But I’m also getting a decent number of anti-sale/moderation videos, including:
But me? I’m skipping the sale, and I thought it would be fun to share a few reasons why I’m not making a deliberate effort to hit up Sephora before the sale ends on November 11th for everyone.
I replaced my more expensive Laneige moisturizer with a better and cheaper option
Every time the sale rolls around, I think about splurging on another jar of the Laneige moisturizer, which I still love and think is great. (I reviewed it here!) But this year, I discovered the Andalou Naturals CannaCell Happy Day Cream, which I love and use as my nighttime moisturizer. It’s about half the price of the Laneige cream. I get it locally at Wheatsville.
I’m going to hold off on another replacement, my Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo
I use dry shampoo twice a week, and I am running low on my regular product, the Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo for Light Tones. But I don’t feel compelled to replace it yet. It’s not a big deal to me if I pay full price for a full replacement bottle.
I just bought a cream blush from Sephora in October
I got influenced! I bought the Ami Cole Desert Date Cream Multistick in the shade Dune. It’s a red-leaning nudie brown blush, and I just love it. I am planning to write a longer review about it soon. If Ami Cole released a peachy cream blush, I’d probably buy that too, but for now, I don’t feel drawn to buy any makeup from Sephora.
For the life of me, I cannot find the video that influenced me, but I believe the creator was Kay Dimmick, so I’ll link her channel here. The video I watched might be this one?
I don’t have much money left in my beauty budget this year
Sephora is an expensive place to shop, even with a sale. I have about $300 left for November and December. My budget has to cover my beauty replacements and anything extra or special that I want to buy, including candles. So right now, at the beginning of November, I’m inclined to save what I have rather than try to shop the Sephora sale.
I only get 10% off because I’m an Insider
Maybe I should have led with this fact, but for me, I don’t think getting a bigger discount on beauty products would change my feelings about the sale. Even if I spent $100 at Sephora, the discount is only $10-20, depending on your Sephora tier.
PS Speaking of voting…
It’s Tuesday, November 5th, as I’m about to push publish on this, so there is still time to vote! Remember that there are always more downballot races and often ballot measures beyond the POTUS race, so consider going to vote even if you aren’t jazzed about the Presidential race. I’m not going to make this partisan, but I think it’s important to never assume that you know how an election is going to turn out. Your vote matters every time.
