Count me among the many people on the political left who are coping with Trump’s win by engaging in some retail therapy. I bought this Offline by Aerie top over the weekend and have already worn it three times. It’s kind of perfect, at least for me!
It’s not a fancy top by any stretch of the imagination. It’s maybe even basic, but we embrace basic around here. So far, I really like it! I like its cropped length, the blue-and-white stripes, and its waffle weave texture. But what I really love about it is that it looks like a sweater, but it’s actually a light cotton-elastane blend. It gives the look of a heavier fabric, but it’s thin enough to be very comfortable in November Texas, when it’s still 80 degrees F outside in the afternoon.
Like so many of us, as the year turns toward fall and winter, I start to crave a cozier existence, like long sleeves, hot drinks, blankets, cinnamon-spicy candles. This top has the right cozy notes for me. It even has thumb holes!
I sized up to a large because I wanted a little extra length, knowing that this top is marketed as cropped. It hits me right around my natural waist, which means I can (more or less) wear it with most of my midrise bottoms without flashing my tummy at everyone. If I wanted to wear this in a more professional setting, I think I could pair it with high-waisted pants and that would be a safe choice for modesty. This top does ride up a bit, but it’s not too problematic.
Hope you are all taking good care of yourselves <3
