This announcement is about as close to a beauty emergency as I get, but here it is: buy this soap! Run, don’t walk, to your local grocery store!
Tomato vine scent is definitely trending this year, and I am here for it. I almost bought the tomato vine candle from Bath & Body Works, but I was underwhelmed when I sniffed it in store. I may pick it up later this summer, but in the meantime, this soap from Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day has absolutely nailed the scent. This is 100% tomato vine scent. It’s that deeply herbal, slightly sweet scent you get when you rub the leaves or vines of a tomato plant and inhale deeply. Pure garden heaven. I always take a moment to catch that scent when I buy tomatoes on the vine from the grocery store; it’s one of those small cooking pleasures that reminds me why I enjoy food so much.
If this soap is getting you pumped for Tomato Girl Summer, may I suggest an open-faced tomato sandwich? Elise Fox, who writes I am Not Me here on Substack, suggested a delicious version made with toasted sourdough, cottage cheese, and tomato slices topped with salt, olive oil, and lemon zest. I cannot wait to try this one myself! In a moment of make-do inspiration, I came up with a different option: toasted sourdough, vegan cashew cheese, tomato slices, salt, and pepper. Fantastic.
